Francis Schaeffer said, “Ideas have consequences.” If people believe false ideas, they inevitably act on them in disastrous ways. The only solution to such false ideas is to replace them with the truth. Theology and doctrine matter. In this series, we will work through important doctrines that followers of Jesus must understand as they strive to follow Jesus.

This week, we explore the Doctrine of salvation. Our foundational text will be John 3:1-18 ESV.

What is our message as we wait for the arrival of Jesus?

John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus, was the prophet appointed by God to announce the arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus arrived as a child, His Kingdom was about to break into Earth and establish itself as a beacon of light in the darkness. As we wait for the arrival of Jesus in dark days, what is our message of hope?

How do we avoid passivity in our faith as we await the arrival of King Jesus once again?

As Mary waits for the arrival of Jesus, she stays with her extended family and has an incredible moment encountering the Spirit of God. Mary, through song, reveals what she is expecting when Jesus arrives. When we anticipate the wrong things, we often experience disappointment.

This week, let’s explore what we should anticipate when we wait well for Jesus to expand his rule in our lives!

God chose Mary to bring Jesus into the world in human form. Mary…a teenager from a simple family in an average town. Mary…who would not have been trusted with such a task. Mary…who was tasked with a sacred mission while labeled a sinner.

This week, we explore her response to the arrival of Jesus and strive to discover our response to God breaking into humanity.
